All the Resort’s a Stage! Live Shows and Performers Make Disneyland Resort an Entertaining Experience Day and Night
ANAHEIM, Calif. – Disneyland Resort guests can enjoy a variety of live performances, and many youngsters get their first taste of live theater in Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park. Even with all the spectacular rides and attractions, a Disneyland Resort guest could spend a full day and night just enjoying the entertainment offerings.
In 2023, Disneyland Resort is featuring exciting entertainment as part of the Disney100 anniversary celebration, including the return of the fan-favorite “Magic Happens” parade, plus all-new nighttime spectaculars “Wondrous Journeys” and “World of Color – ONE.” Guests can be a part of the show with MagicBand+, which glows with color and pulses with haptic vibrations during select nighttime spectaculars.
The lineup of entertainment continues with character encounters, parades, dance parties, street performances, musical groups, live shows and more. Performance schedules are available on Disneyland.com and the Disneyland app.* Here are several spectacular highlights:
At Disneyland Park
- “Wondrous Journeys” – New in 2023, this nighttime spectacular celebrates 100 years of Walt Disney Animation Studios with classic Disney music, stunning projection and laser effects, and favorite Disney characters – with sparkling fireworks on select nights.
- Special and seasonal nighttime spectaculars – During seasonal celebrations and special events, guests can experience specially themed nighttime spectaculars, including “Halloween Screams” and “Believe… in Holiday Magic.”
- “Magic Happens” – This daytime spectacular made its highly anticipated return in 2023, bringing together favorite Disney characters and music to celebrate magical moments from legendary Disney stories.
- “Fantasmic!” – Disney’s popular and longest-running nighttime spectacular is an emotional extravaganza of colorful Disney-animated story scenes, choreographed to an exciting musical score.
- “Tale of the Lion King” – On select days, the Fantasyland Theatre presents a unique theatrical adaption of Disney’s “The Lion King,” narrated by a traveling troupe known as The Storytellers of the Pride Lands, who re-enact the tale of how a lion cub became a king through dialogue, song, dance and percussion.
- Storytelling at the Royal Theatre – Renaissance men Messieurs Smythe and Jones, with the assistance of some fellow villagers and the audience, bring the tales of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Tangled” to life with music, whimsy and humor.
- Live music – The melodic sounds of the Disneyland Band, the Dapper Dans quartet, and the Straw Hatters are all on display on Main Street, S.A. In New Orleans Square, the toe-tapping performances star the Bootstrappers and the Jambalaya Jazz Band.
At Disney California Adventure Park
- “World of Color – ONE” – New in 2023, this nighttime spectacular presented on Paradise Bay combines water, color, fire, music, animation and moments from favorite Disney films to tell the story of how one single action can make a world of difference.
- “Disney Junior Dance Party!” – Mickey Mouse is joined by favorite Disney Junior characters, including Doc McStuffins and Vampirina.
- “The Amazing Spider-Man!” – Throughout the day, guests have the chance to witness Spider-Man swing into action high above Avengers Campus with gravity-defying, acrobatic feats never before seen in a Disney park.
- “Warriors of Wakanda: The Disciplines of the Dora Milaje” – Recruits at Avengers Campus are invited to join Black Panther’s loyal bodyguards, the Dora Milaje, in training sessions in the courtyard near Avengers Headquarters.
- “Doctor Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts” – Doctor Strange steps forth through an inter-dimensional portal to engage guests with illusions, sorcery and tales to astonish from his collection of mysterious relics.
- “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Dance Off!” – Star Lord and Gamora lead a groovy dance party set to rock and roll classics from Peter Quill’s beloved boom box.
- Live music – The swinging jazz combo Five & Dime delivers jazz, pizzazz and razzmatazz and the Green Army Patrol from “Toy Story” convoy the park with “Operation: Playtime!” The Hollywood Backlot Stage and Paradise Garden Bandstand often host live musical acts.
- Special seasonal entertainment – Disney California Adventure offers a variety of special entertainment during seasonal festivals, including Lunar New Year, the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival and Disney Festival of Holidays.
The live entertainment experiences at Disneyland Resort extend beyond the theme parks, with a rotating lineup of nighttime musical entertainment at the Downtown Disney LIVE! main stage and seasonally at the Hotels of the Disneyland Resort, with talented entertainers making appearances throughout the year.
