Disney Parks to Kick Off a ‘Monstrous Summer’ With 24 Hours of Magic on Both Coasts

(April 25, 2013) Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort will kick off a Monstrous Summer by keeping three theme parks open for 24 hours nonstop on May 24, the beginning of Memorial Day Weekend, Walt Disney World President George Kalogridis announced Thursday night. To celebrate the 24-hour Disney Parks “All-Nighter,” the sphere of Spaceship Earth in Epcot was transformed from Disney Parks icon to Disney●Pixar “Eye-con,” becoming a 180-foot-tall, fully animated Mike Wazowski from the upcoming Disney●Pixar film Monsters University. Epcot is located at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (April 12, 2013) In celebration of the May 3 release of “Iron Man 3,” an exciting new exhibit has come to Innoventions at Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif., featuring actual set pieces from the film. “Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries” gives Disneyland park guests the chance to see Tony Stark’s Hall of Armor, featuring Iron Man suits Mark I-VII – the same suits featured in “Iron Man 3.” Through simulation technology, guests will also be able to see what it’s like to operate the latest pieces of the Mark 42 Iron Man armor, even getting the chance to test out its repulsor blasts. A GOLDEN SALUTE – Inspired by the world-famous Frontierland show enjoyed by Walt Disney, “A Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue,” a special “Limited Time Magic” event at the Disneyland Resort, was a homage to those fun-filled, family-friendly musical variety shows of the past. Hosted by Miss Lily and her Saloon Girls, the show brought together favorite song and dance numbers such as “Hello, Everybody,” “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” “Belly up to the Bar” and “Can-Can” and played for four weeks, with shows every Thursday through Monday from January 10 through Feb. 4.
