DISNEY CRUISE LINE ALASKA BOUND – DISNEY CRUISE LINE ALASKA BOUND: On Sept. 11, 2009, Disney Cruise Line announced plans to sail to Alaska in 2011. This will be the first time Disney Cruise Line will sail to Alaska and the first time a Disney cruise ship will call the West Coast home for an entire year. Disney’s Oceaneer Club – Andy’s Room – In Andy's Room on the Disney Dream, the world of Disney-Pixar's "Toy Story" films comes to life. Kids experience the feeling of being toy-sized as they play among larger-than-life characters from the animated film - such as Hamm the piggy bank and Rex the dinosaur. Children can rearrange features on Mr. Potato Head, crawl though the coiled body of Slinky Dog and get behind the wheel of an oversize, remote-controlled race car. “Buccaneer Blast!” Fireworks at Sea – As the only cruise line to feature fireworks at sea, Disney Cruise Line lights up the sky to dazzle guests with the largest, awe-inspiring fireworks extravaganza presented aboard a cruise ship. The skies above the Disney Dream explode with brilliant colors during "Buccaneer Blast!" - a pyrotechnic spectacular choreographed to a dramatic score featuring songs from the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies, "Peter Pan" and the "Pirates of the Caribbean" attraction at the Disney theme parks. Disney Cruise Line Returns – At a press conference today at the El Capitan Theatre, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Geraldine Knatz, Ph.d, together announced that Disney Cruise Line plans to reposition the Disney Wonder cruise ship from its Florida base in Port Canaveral to the West Coast in 2011. An agreement for two-years, with a three-year extension option is set to be considered by the Port of Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners on April 2, 2009. The addition of a new homeport for Disney Cruise Line is part of the overall expansion plan for the company, which will provide Disney fans with opportunities to sail with Disney on both the East and West Coasts. Disney’s Oceaneer Club – Monster’s Academy – Monster's Academy is a fun, interactive space inspired by the Disney•Pixar film "Monsters, Inc." that features computers with unique games integrated into the walls, and an elaborately themed play structure for climbing that is fashioned after the film's scare floor, where monster pals Michael "Mike" Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan work. Located on Deck 5 aboard the Disney Dream, Monster's Academy is part of Disney's Oceaneer Club - a child-friendly oasis that transports 3-to-10-year-old children to the magical lands of Disney fairies, friendly monsters, adventuresome toys and undersea exploration. The District – Evolution – Evolution brings a piece of big city night life to the high seas at The District on the Disney Dream. Inspired by the metamorphosis of the butterfly, wing patterns on the walls and trails of light along the ceiling impart the feeling of butterflies in flight. The heart of the club is a dynamic, lighted dance floor that changes with the intensity of the music and a colorful butterfly-shaped feature light on the ceiling above.
